Strategies to enhance student learning

The information processing model (IPM) is a learning theory that can be used to help us better understand how we learn and can also guide us in the way we teach. Interactive examples of how we can use the IPM to guide us in the way we teach will be provided. Active learning strategies enhance the integration and retention of new knowledge, and the POGIL pedagogy (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning - https://pogil.org) is a practical and effective active learning pedagogy. The POGIL model can be used to not only teach new discipline content, but at the same time also develop key learning/processing skills sought after by employers. Again practical examples will be provided to demonstrate how this pedagogy can be applied to your teaching.
