Enrollment in the faculty library

Enrollment is based on

  • UJ students and doctoral students enroll in the Library based on an electronic student ID card valid for the current academic year
  • USOS entry for the current academic year
  • ID card issued by the Central Jagiellonian Library

Making the collection available

  • Books are lent for three months. For some books, the Library may set a shorter loan period.
  • The Library charges fees for late return of borrowed books.
  • Students can borrow ten books at a time (doctoral students 10, employees 20), which they can renew on their own. The borrowing period can be renewed by computer, provided that another reader has not ordered the book and the deadline for its return has not passed. The renewal of books can also be done in the library lending room.
  • If a borrowed book is damaged or lost, the reader is obliged to repurchase the same item, and if this is not possible, the book indicated by the librarian.
  • The obligation in USOS at the end of the academic year (needed to pass the year) is ceased in the library based on a student ID card.
  • All interested parties are entitled to use the collection of the Library in the reading room upon leaving their identity document.
  • The Library provides interlibrary services only to employees and doctoral students of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University.

The availability of publications can be checked directly online at the Jagiellonian Library.

In addition to the traditional journals available in the library (journals available in hard copy), users have online access to several journals through databases from various publishers (access from faculty computers or via remote access via HAN from a computer outside the faculty building).

  • American Chemical Society (full access, including archival resources)
  • Chemical Abstract (CAS) - since 1907 on the SciFinder platform, which is the only one that requires the user to log in with a personal account - one must make the first login using WiFi at the faculty or a computer in the library using the university address, and then from the same computer click on the confirmation link received in an e-mail. After that, you can log in normally (at home via the link http://hps.bj.uj.edu.pl/han/scifinder-n/) using the established account after logging in to HAN (to which the email and password are equivalent to the email and password for university mail).
