Competencies, tasks, and scope of activity of the Community Council of the Faculty of Chemistry

The Community Council of the Faculty of Chemistry of Jagiellonian University is an advisory body aimed at consulting on the formation of curricula for the studies programs based on the analysis of current and projected labor market needs and competencies that determine graduates' success in the modern socioeconomic environment.

The purpose of the Council's activities is to discuss, first and foremost, the quality of education and the evaluation of existing curricula, as well as to create conditions for a deeper connection between the scientific and teaching community and the industry institutions, workplaces, and other entities that employ our graduates.

The Council's competencies include:

  • expressing opinions on current and projected trends in the labor market,
  • indicating the demand for specific competencies and the profile of a graduate,
  • giving an opinion on study programs and indicating significant changes, enabling better preparation of the student/graduate to enter the labor market,
  • assistance in expanding technical, scientific, and didactic cooperation with industry, especially in organizing internships and apprenticeships,
  • involvement in conducting theses and initiating joint research projects,
  • the possibility of proposing and co-teaching courses for students.

Organization of the Council's activities:

  • regular meetings of the Council, at least once a year, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Chemistry or remotely,
  • exchange of information through contact with the Faculty Authorities and heads of studies programs,
  • participation in student meetings related to their careers, co-organizing workshops and conferences, and cooperation with students' scientific organizations.

Expected benefits and effects of the Council:

  • the direct influence of employers on the study programs and thus on the competencies of graduates,
  • facilitated contacts of employers with graduates and students and the possibility of individualized formation of their competencies as future employees,
  • establishment of the basis for long-term cooperation,
  • promotion on the Faculty website of the offer of employers, their participation in lectures of a popular and scientific nature organized by the Faculty for a broad audience,
  • participation of students in promotional and information campaigns of employers,
  • organization of study visits to the headquarters of companies.
